Over four years of war has torn Yemen apart. Tens of thousands of civilians have been killed or injured and millions more displaced. The fighting has destroyed homes, schools and hospitals and prevented access to food, water and medicines. Nearly 80% of the population are now dependent on some sort of aid to survive.
Intermittent blockades have restricted the import of vital food, fuel and medicines, putting the lives of millions of Yemenis in jeopardy. 18 million people are already food insecure and UN officials fear that the country could tip into famine before the end of the year.
If the violence does not end, what has been described as the worst humanitarian crisis of our time, will only get worse.
Yemen can’t wait any longer.
Allah (SWT) says in the Holy Qur’an:
“To save a life, it is as if you have saved all of mankind” (5:32)
Please take action now and help save lives.
Write to your MP and call on them to ensure the UK government is doing everything it can to get all sides to cease hostilities, to ensure civilians have access to life-saving aid, and to put peace talks back on the table.
The UK must do all it can to help stop the violence and bring an end to this horrific crisis. We know the UK alone cannot solve the crisis but as a member of the UN Security Council, we can make a difference.
The people of Yemen need our help. Take action now.
